Excerpted From The Hill: Chelsea Handler is pinning the “blame” for Donald Trump’s stunning White House win on one famous family: the Kardashians.
“We’ve turned into a reality show,” the “Chelsea” host said, ripping media coverage of Trump’s 2016 campaign in an interview with Variety published Tuesday. “We’ve turned into a reality show. I blame the Kardashians, personally; the beginning of the end as the Kardashians.”
The comedienne — whose late-night talk show once aired on E!, the same network as “Keeping up With the Kardashians” — said of the tabloid fixtures, “The way these people have blown up and don’t go away — it’s surreal. Everyone is for sale.”
Handler, who cried in a November episode of her Netflix show over Trump’s win, lambasted the media for treating Trump “as an entertainer first.”
“Somebody should have put a stop to it,” Handler said, when her Variety interviewer mentioned that the Trump campaign’s “many scandals” were reminiscent of a reality show. “The idea that so many people were so wrong about the outcome is so screwed up. The fact that Russia is interfering with our election is beyond repair. How do we recover from that? What’s to prevent them from doing it for the rest of our lives?”
Calling the president-elect a “sociopath,” Handler also expressed doubt that Trump’s three adult children, who were a constant presence on the campaign trail, will carry any sway over their father. Keep reading
